The hardest and bravest part of pet-parenthood is the time when you must say goodbye.
We believe that this is a special time of compassion and support, and are available to help you through the process from beginning to end. If you’re struggling with the questions surrounding euthanasia for a beloved companion, perhaps Dr. Saria’s blog post, “The Final, Tough Decision” can help.
At home euthanasia is a very personal and peaceful way to say goodbye to your pet. Susan Lydem wrote a blog post, “Saying Goodbye To A Cherished Pet” describing her first experience with euthanasia in the home. We hope that this information will help you. Please know that we are here to support you during this difficult time.
Euthanasia and After Care Services
We offer a couple of different services for families who are facing euthanasia. We understand that everyone faces this difficult decision in their own way and the following options give you the flexibility to decide between home burial and cremation services.
- Private Cremation Option: Home Visit at a time you request, calming sedation, IV catheter placement for ease of medication administration as indicated, peaceful euthanasia and gentle handling with Private Cremation. Beautiful engraved pewter urns or wood urns with photo frame and brass name plate, clay paw print: $650 (Over 50# and after hours emergency may have additional cost)
- Group Cremation or Preparation for At Home Burial: Home Visit at a time you request, calming sedation, IV catheter placement for ease of medication administration as indicted, peaceful euthanasia and gentle handling with Communal Cremation or preparing pet for home burial, clay paw print: $500
Our Group Cremation provides a special opportunity for your pet to be part of a living reef memorial. Private arrangements can also be made for dedicated reef memorials of individual pets.
“At Memorial Reefs International, our specially designed memorial reefs turn cremated remains into living, thriving coral environments. We are proud to now offer this service for your pets, too! What better way to continue the cycle of life, to give back the energy and life-force your beloved pet once gave you, than by committing their remains to benefit endangered animals? Already fragile due to their sensitive biology, coral is dying off at a record pace due to rising ocean temperatures. Pet memorials help coral communities, fish, and other marine life to adapt and survive. In the current climate and ecological crisis, there are few tangible ways for individuals to help. Memorialization of your pet is one of those ways. When you choose a memorial reef for your pet, you’re helping one of the most important and endangered environments on Earth. These Memorial Reefs also contribute to ecological awareness, as children and other family members will love talking about these unique memorials. The treasured memories of your pet will sparkle even more when you make them part of a beautiful reefscape.” https://petreefs.com/

Dr. Saria
I wanted to take a minute to thank you and Deryl for your compassion and caring in helping Tessa transition from this life. She is finally at peace and although it is always a deeply sad experience, you somehow made it a beautiful and peaceful one. Since joining Karuna Bully Rescue, I have dealt with different clinics and veterinarians & I can honestly say that you are wonderfully different from most others that I have met.
Your extremely gentle approach to humans and dogs is just one example of what sets you apart. I know I am a little biased because of our connection with you having saved our Chaos’ life when you took care of his Parvo and performed his amputation surgery, but I think it is important for you to know that the service you offer by coming into people’s homes is priceless. Having never met Peter & Britt before, you were so compassionate. They were so moved by your kind nature as well as your patience and gentle way of guiding them through Tessa’s passing. I also want to mention that you and Deryl act in such harmony that this really was a seamless visit to what can often be a chaotic experience.
Thank you again for all that you do to care for and protect these animals we call family members. Please know that you have my gratitude and never ending support. I hope that we see one another when circumstances are much happier.
